MICHAEL ANDREW BURT
A recent graduate of the UNLV School of Music, Michael Andrew Burt has written works for symphonic orchestra, choral and solo vocal, instrumental solo and ensemble, and performed all over the US and the world, including New York City's Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and a concert tour throughout Northeastern China. His music and work is often inspired by literature, history, cultures, movement, visual imagery, and everyday human experiences.
He is the co-founder of the UNLV Composers' Collective, which aims to be a collaborative collection of Fine Arts students creating new content and networking for the future, while also being a learning tool for aspiring artists. As part of the Collective, he organized and lead two “48-hour Concerts,” in which composers and performers had 48-hours to create and practice brand new works before presenting them at a cumulative concert. He has also engaged in collaborations to create new, live music, scored student films, and studied under the close guidance of Dr. Charles Halka, Dr. Jennifer Bellor, and Dr. Diego Vega.
Michael has also worked with guest composers such as Michael Torke, Paul Chihara, Marc Neikrug, Daron Hagen, Nathaniel Stookey, Virko Baley, James Thorpe Buchanan, and Arthur Gottschalk.
Michael is also the recipient of the UNLV School of Music’s Bachelor of Music in Composition Award 2018
