Composition Portfolio

  • October 2020 - Present:

         - Became the first American to be accepted into the Master’s in Music Composition                     Program at HAMU, The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.                                                          

  • April 2020 - October 2020:
    - After spending a month in quarantine due to the Covid Crisis, began work at the Jet/Walmart Online Fulfillment Center as an essential worker. Entailed working with large machinery, fulfilling online orders, and packaging/shipping them all over the country, all while following covid safety guidelines.                                                                                                         

  • May 2018 - Feburary 2020:
    - Employed at Moon Lighting and Sound as an Audio Engineer, where I worked the setup, tuning, and operation of professional live sound equipment at multiple indoor and outdoor venues, gigs ranging from corporate (Northstar Resort, Atlantis Casino, Hard Rock Casino, NBC’s American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament) to political (Bernie Sanders’ Campaign) to concerts (Ice Cube, B-52’s, Culture Club, Dana Carvey, Hall & Oats, Andrea Bochelli, Reno Philharmonic).  
    - Also performed maintenance and troubleshooting of high end equipment, including learning to build cables (NL4, NL8, Socko, Electrical/L14-30/Edison, XLR, SDI, CAT5), repair of amps, tweeters/woofers, and speakers.                                                                                                    

  • September 2019 - Present:
    - The Cooking with MS Chef series begins, a YouTube Project. “At 24 years old, being diagnosed with a severe auto-immune disease is a life-changing event; piling hardship and physical limitations on an already fraught stage of life. This project follows Kevin Tomlin as he navigates living, love, and humor around multiple sclerosis.”                                         

  • March 2019:
    - Administration and tour guide for WorldStrides’ Carnegie Hall Concert and New York City Tour, in association with McQueen High School Choir. 
    Conducted by Dr. Rollo Dilworth.                                                                                                                   

  • June - November 2018:
    - Commissioned by the George Graham Foundation to arrange and conduct several pieces at a Mångfaldsfestival in Sigtuna-kommen, Sweden to celebrate diversity and encourage integration with multiple cultures that are in need around the globe.                          

  • August 2013 - May 2018:
    - Studied at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition. 
    - Co-Founder/Head of University Organization, UNLV Composer’s Collective, which aims to be a collaborative collection of Fine Arts students creating new content and networking for the future, and organized two “48-hour Concerts”, as part of the Collective. Scored student films, and worked under the close guidance of Dr. Charles Halka, Dr. Jennifor Bellor, and Dr. Diego Vega, and guest composers Michael Torke, Paul Chihara, Marc Neikrug, Daron Hagen, Nathaniel Stookey, Virko Baley, James Thorpe Buchanan, and Joshua Fishbein.
    - Recipient of UNLV School of Music’s Bachelor of Music in Composition Award 2018.                    

  • May - July 2018: 
    - Cast and head audio engineer for a choir concert tour with the Nevada/New England Ambassadors of Music, with performances in London/Paris/Seefeld, Austria/Crans-Montana, Switzerland/Innsbruck, Austria and Rothenberg, Germany.                                                  

  • January - May 2013: 
    - Performed the West Coast Premiere of Ola Gjelo’s Sunrise Mass, with complete orchestra, May 23, 2013 at Carnegie Hall
    Conducted by Dr. Paul Torkelson.                                                                                                                  

  • September 2011 - April 2012: 

         - Performed Verdi’s Requiem with the UNR Chamber Choir and the Reno Philharmonic at           the Pioneer Center, Reno, NV. 
         Conducted by Dr. Paul Torkelson.                                                                                                                      

  • May - July 2011:
    - Cast and crew in an acapella choir tour as part of the Interkultur World Choir Games, which had performances in Beijing, Xian, Shaoxing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai.

     

  • September 2010 - April 2011: 
    - Performed the Lincoln Center Premiere of Rene Clausen’s Memorial, a thirty-minute piece in honor of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. 
    Conducted by Dr. Paul Torkelson.

     

  • Spring 2006/2008/2010/2012/2016/2019: 
    - Cast and tech crew for McQueen HS Madrigal Dinner show, a 4-hour Renaissance dinner-show that is fully immersive and features period-accurate music and dance.
